Maths - Problem solving

Maths - Problem solving (Last Set of Maths)
  1. Moana set her digital watch at 13:00:00 on the last day
of April. Unfortunately the watch loses 11 seconds a day.

What is the time on Moana’s watch when it is 13:00:00
on the last day of May?
Since there are 31 days between the last day of April and the last
day of May, Moana’s watch will have lost 31 x 11 = 341 seconds.
To convert this into minutes, divide by 60. Hence 341 seconds = 5 minutes
and 41 seconds. Then subtract 5 minutes 41 seconds from 13:00:00.
This gives 12:54:19. This is the time on Moana’s watch.
2. In parking meters downtown, you can get 15 minutes parking
for 50c. Dad put $3.50 into the parking meter at 3.15pm.
At what time did the parking meter expire?
$3.50 = 7 x 50c. 7 x 15 minutes = 105 minutes.
105 minutes = 1 hour and 45 minutes. 3:15 + 1:45 = 5:00.
So Dad can park in the car park up until 5 pm
3. There are four children in Marie's family.
She is less than 11 years old and is the oldest.
There's a two year age difference to twins, Grace and Lily,
who come next. Tom, who is older than 5 is two years
younger than the twins. How old are each of the children?
Marie - 10 Years old
Grace - 8 Years Old
Lily - 8 Years old

Tom - 6 Years Old
