Everyday Theater!

Everyday Theater!

Today at 9:00 sharp, two young girls from Everyday Theater came to room 7 and had a little bit of fun with us. First thing they did as everyone should do was introduced themselves to us. They didn’t really introduce themselves with their proper names but, they used their names as the places they come from. So, Their names were Stacy and Katelyn and Katelyn is from Florida and Stacy herself is from Sparkles.

We talked as like we knew each other very well, even though we just met them! We continued talking for a couple of minutes until Stacy wanted to get right into the play, so we got straight into the play. The play they acted included 6 different profiles. Here are the profiles we detected.
* Dave - (Dave is the dad and he wears a beanie, and also husband to Maraea. He also doesn’t have a job and he never helps his wife with anything around the house.)
* Maraea - (Maraea is the mum and she wears a scarf, also the wife of Dave.)
* T - (T is Maraea and Dave’s son and he carries a backpack with him all the time.)
* Jack - (Jack is T’s best friend, they have been friends for a very long time and he wears a blue and black cap.)
* Brian - (Brian is a supervisor that works with Maraea, and it seems that Brian and Maraea have an affair going on between the two. He also has a lanyard / tag that says “Supervisor”.
* Becca - (Becca is Brian’s daughter, not only the daughter to brian but also a slave to T, T forces Becca to do his homework for him and she carries a book that has tagging of her name and her subjects all around it.
Those are all the profiles we looked into, and all of them were acted by Stacy and Katelyn. We also had four rounds and four lives. We also had four level passwords. In order to remain in the game, we had to follow the instructions that we were given. The first and most important rule was, No pushing / shoving people.

In the four levels we played, we had different tasks. For the first level, our password was E-V-E-R-Y spells EVERY! We had Stacy and Katelyn act out the 6 different characters but in order for them to become the character we had to swipe them into the game, pause, and freeze them. The play went on and on! Level two: Level two’s password was C-H-I-L-D spells CHILD!

*I forgot the rest, but thats basically what we did for every level. One thing I do remember was we managed to complete all levels and we were also awarded with a ‘Games Master’ badge with a card that also said ‘Games Master’. *

Maya_Cooper (Reading)

Today for reading, We read an article about The last straw (should be included in my slide). We also answered a few questions regarding about the three main characters, Sarah, Vanessa and Mum, but mostly Sarah and mum. We also got asked one question while discussing what we've learnt with our teacher, and the question was "Who is the Victim". I thought really deep about the question and the only name I could come up with was Vanessa. She has been abused, and she was only 3 months old. Here is a slideshow about what we've learnt for Reading / Inquiry in room 7.

Kiwican Reflection

Today for Kiwican, We had Mrs Piho, One of our Kiwican leaders. First, as always, We got welcomed in to the Kiwican room. After our little welcoming speech by Mrs Piho, We had a little game called 'Dog's tail'. This game wasn't that fun like our usual games, but yeah, I participated. A few minutes later, we talked about our new topic 'Responsibility'. We talked about people, places and things we are responsible for. Later on we played another game called 'Paper ball'. The aim of this game was to be responsible for the ball, the piece of paper and also our team-mates. Last but not least, we played GKQ (General Knowledge quiz) and it was pretty cool because I passed 11 students from room 7 and unfortunately I wasn't master. Everything at Kiwicam was really fun apart from our first game, but yeah. It was a game!

The Dark house.

It was a dark, dark, dark night. The moon drifted across the plain dark blue sky, as clouds covered the moon. The wind whispered, and the trees were swaying side to side. The breeze was nice, but as I walked along the footpath, I automatically heard someone screaming “Help me, Help me”. My heart skipped a beat, I felt like running home but as I tried so hard to focus on my walk, all I could hear was lightning and someone yelling out for help.

I whirled around and saw a dark black looking house. I froze, I couldn’t think straight. My body was in complete shock and I was also completely silenced. I wanted to cry out for help, but I couldn’t do anything but think about what was going on. “Ugh, If I can’t stop thinking about what happened so badly, why not go check it out for myself?” I said to myself. I ran towards the house, and suddenly a shadow went past me and made a *CRUNCH* noise. I felt something running across my arm “Oh shoot, What could be on me?” I said quietly. “UGH!!, It’s a SPIDER!” I jumped up and down, without making a single sound. I walked quietly towards the dark house. “BOO”. I tumbled and yelled out “WHAT THE HELL”. I turned around without even thinking twice, It was my friend Jake. “Jake, what were you thinking, you scared me”. Without a word he hugged me saying he’s sorry.

After talking with Jake about what's happening so far, we thought it might be a good idea to go into the house and find out what’s happening and how we might help resolve things. We walked towards the house in complete silence. “HAHAHAHA”. I closed my eyes as I squeezed Jake’s arm. As we entered the house the laughing continued. “Oh what have we done”.
TO BE CONTINUED!!!

KOS Reflection

A quick reflection on our KOS session with constable Paul.

KOS Reflection Today at 11:30 am, a police officer (Constable Paul) came to Glenbrae school to teach all classes about Keeping ourselves safe and how different types of abuses can cause so much effect. First, we talked about how it is very important for people to not touch other genders genitals. Constable Paul also mentioned how we boys go swimming they wear shorts and when girls go swimming they wear a one piece or a two piece. He said it is very important that people respect others genitals and that they never have the right to touch it. Next, He read to us a story called “The Hedgehog”. This story was very sad because it had a lot of physical abuse and family violence. Then, We talked about the different types of abuse including, Cyber Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Neglect, Sexual Abuse, Family Violence and Physical Abuse. We mainly discussed Cyber abuse and family violence. About family violence, we learnt that New Zealand has the highest record and for Cyber abuse, we learnt that it’s all about trust. You can’t judge someone unless you really meet them or see their appearance. Having constable Paul with us was such a pleasure, I’ve enjoyed every moment within the hour and ½ we’ve had with him because in such small time, I’ve learnt so much and hopefully constable Jude will be back to visit us soon.

New Zealand Teachers have decided to go on strike. Primary and secondary New Zealand school teachers have announce a joint strike. In New Zealand there are two teacher unions. NZEI (New Zealand Education Institute) for primary school teachers and the Post Primary Teachers’ Association for secondary school teachers. The combined “mega-strike” will be held on 29 May. The joint strike will be the largest ever industrial action taken in New Zealand. It will involve almost 50,000 teachers across the two unions. Both groups have been unable to agree with the government on a new deal for their pay. The government has offered a 3% pay increase. The government has insisted it will not increase the total value of its offers, which it said was worth more than $1.2 billion over four years.

In term 2, for Te Reo Maori, Rm 7 decided to do word phrases on 4 random images. For these 4 in particular random images, we had to chain link 2 or more ideas onto it. On these images including Oranges, Egg Sandwich, Tonga, and the shooting in Christchurch are some of my chain linking ideas. Here is a Google Draw I made with Maori and English words I had found on the internet (AKA Maori Dictionary).
